The importance of Invisalign in
Springfield

Many patients who have orthodontic problems are not aware of the possible complications they
can cause. Since most people do not want to wear metal braces, they chose to ignore their problems.
Invisalign makes treating orthodontic issues much easier. The Invisalign aligner trays are discreet and
comfortable.

While Invisalign cannot treat all orthodontic problems, it can address most of them. The first step in the treatment process is a consultation with Dr. Kanorwalla. If you are a candidate for this treatment, the first step will be to take impressions, photos, and x-rays of your teeth. This information will be used to create a custom treatment plan for you, and for the Invisalign lab to create the aligners. In a couple of weeks, Vanguard Dental will receive your aligners. At this point, you will return to the dental office so they can give you necessary instructions and your first few sets of aligners. You will wear each set of trays for two weeks before moving on to the next set in the series. Although the aligners need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, they can removed when eating, drinking, and for oral hygiene. You will return to the office every six to eight weeks for a checkup, to ensure your teeth are moving according to the treatment plan, and to receive your next series of aligners.

Invisalign makes orthodontic treatment easy, but for patients who chose to ignore their problems, it can result in complications. The worse the orthodontic issue is, the more severe the potential complications may be. A few examples include:

Oral health

When you have teeth that are crowded or have large gaps between them, it is hard to remove all of the plaque that gets trapped. The trapped plaque is a contributing factor in the formation of cavities as well as other oral health problems such as gum disease.

Tooth damage

When teeth do not mesh properly, there is a risk of excessive wear on the tooth enamel. Another common problem is that when teeth protrude they are far more likely to be damaged in an accident.

Digestion

If you have teeth that are misaligned, it is probably safe to assume that your food is not being chewed properly. This can result in your body not being able to absorb all of the nutrients that the food has to offer, and can lead to fatigue and indigestion.

Patients may think that their orthodontic problems are minor and do not see why they should treat them. The truth is, as a person ages, these problems can get much worse. If they look at old photos, it is likely they will see a noticeable difference in their smiles.

Springfield residents, if you have been putting off orthodontic treatment because you hated the idea of having a “metal mouth,” call Vanguard Dental at 413 543 2555 and schedule your consultation with Dr. Kanorwalla. With Invisalign we can give you a lifetime of smiles.
