COVID-19 update from Vanguard Dental

Every day, the Vanguard Dental team puts patient and employee well-being first, providing clean, safe treatment environments for all. We know COVID-19, commonly known as coronavirus, is a concern for everyone. We are required to balance the obligation of providing continuity of care for our patients during these unique circumstances, while helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Given these unique circumstances, and out of an abundance of caution we are currently limiting ourselves to seeing patients who need emergency, non-elective care.

Based on guidelines from the American Dental Association and Massachusetts Dental Society, Vanguard Dental will only see patients with scheduled appointments for dental emergencies until May 25, 2020. Guidance will be updated as needed. Contact us at 413-543-2555 to find a time that is convenient for you.

In emergency, non-elective care situations, patients can have every confidence that Vanguard Dental’s team is following the guidelines set by the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS), American Dental Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

  • Offices are following the precautionary standards set by the CDC to help prevent the spread of the virus.
  • For our patients’ protection, Vanguard Dental is unable to treat patients who arrive and present with a fever, cough or other flu-like symptoms, even in an emergency situation. These patients should contact their health care provider.
  • Cleaning our environment with products from the EPA’s list of registered surface disinfectant products for use against coronavirus.
  • Ensuring our office teams have the Personal Protective Equipment recommended by the CDC.
  • Asking patients to arrive on time, not early, for appointments to encourage social distancing.
  • Removing unnecessary objects or items like magazines and books from waiting rooms and treatment areas.

Everyone can take simple hygiene practices to help keep our communities healthy:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol content) if soap and water are not available. Patients are encouraged to use a hand sanitizer during office visits.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.
  • While sharing is caring, keep drinks, food, cigarettes, or vaping products to yourself.
  • If you have a fever, cough and/or difficulty breathing, contact your primary physician first and seek medical attention if needed.

We value your trust and will continue to monitor the situation, adapting precautionary measures where needed. For the latest information on COVID-19, please visit the CDC website.
